Sunny Deol’s latest action-packed drama Jaat continues its stronghold at the box office, even as the much-anticipated Kesari 2 makes waves across theatres. On its ninth day, Jaat managed to rake in commendable numbers, proving the star power of Sunny Deol and the film’s enduring appeal among mass audiences.
Despite facing stiff competition from Kesari 2, which released last weekend with a massive buzz and wide release, Jaat earned an estimated ₹6.75 crore on Day 9. This brings its total domestic collection to approximately ₹82.40 crore, a solid figure for a film in its second week.
Directed by Rajeev Sharma and featuring Sunny Deol in a rugged, action-heavy avatar, Jaat has struck a chord with audiences in smaller towns and Tier-2 cities, where Deol’s fanbase remains unwavering. The film’s raw action sequences, intense dialogues, and emotional storyline have contributed to its sustained performance at the ticket window.
Trade analysts are impressed with the movie’s resilience.
“Jaat is holding better than expected, especially considering Kesari 2 is dominating multiplexes. The film’s mass connect and Sunny Deol’s screen presence are working in its favor,” said trade expert Girish Johar.
The film saw a slight dip in collections during the weekdays but picked up again as the weekend approached, indicating positive word-of-mouth and strong repeat value. Meanwhile, Kesari 2, starring Akshay Kumar, continues its blockbuster run but has only marginally impacted Jaat‘s collections in single screens and rural circuits.
With another weekend ahead, Jaat is expected to inch closer to the ₹100 crore mark, especially if it maintains its hold and garners strong footfall in the coming days.
